Jodie Bateman,

 My hijab has a voice

Jodie Bateman is an artist and photographer, and uses her work as a way to address social issues, personal feelings, and experiences. Since converting to Islam in 2017, she has worked to explore her new identity through self-portraiture. My hijab has a voice is a body of work that confronts and attempts to break stereotypes of Muslim women and their hijabs, questioning negative stigma in the media and a lack of knowledge as to why Muslim women wear it.
